Thoughts About
Suspended instincts, hovering wild.
Sfumato sky toasts DaVinci’s style.
Wings flapping, waves lapping.
Thoughts encircle, taunting, laughing.
Crashing. Roaring.
Vision soaring.
Dizzy. Is it me?
Muted thoughts are taking flight.
Rhythmic wings, vivid sight.
Entangled senses never land.
Whose footprints are those in the sand?
Not mine.
Or could they be?
Focused silence on the trail.
A clearly curious step entails.
Twisted hair, hand to face.
Barefoot, stepping. Easy pace.
Reflecting seagull’s pantomime,
Thoughts devoured, measured time.
Muted thoughts have taken flight.
Rhythmic wings, my vivid sight.
Suspended instincts always land.
Whose footprints are those in the sand?
Without a doubt, they’re mine. I ran.
Happy thoughts to you on this Monday!

What a fun, easy-to-read post for a Monday morning! The picture is glorious, and I particularly like the line “Muted thoughts are taking flight.”
This was a lovely way for me to wake up & get my week started. Thanks!

Thank you. Welcome to my blog, and happy Monday! I’m glad your week is off to a good start :-)
Hi, Davina. The cadence of this was fun, and seemed to perfectly match the wonderful photo! You do poetry beautifully!

I loved it, Davina. Especially:
“Twisted hair, hand to face.
Barefoot, stepping. Easy pace.”
The words are so vivid, I can actually see the image! But I see myself, not you. :)

Oh this is so nice and a boost to my day….three days of sunshine in a row and I am studying and going to fundraisers….I was right there enjoying the beach and sand…a mini vacation…serendipity Thank you

Hi Julie.
Thank you. It took hours to find this darn photo, but well worth the search. I find poetry comes in phases. What about you?
Hi Vered.
Lol, I can see you there too and not me. Why is that? Glad you enjoyed this. It was a lot of fun.
Hi Daphne.
Did it make you dizzy? :-) Did you laugh till you fall down?
Hi Giovanna.
Thanks! I hope your day was a good one.
Hi Patricia.
You’re welcome. I can imagine the wind blowing your hair while you listen to the sound of the waves. I love that word — serendipity. How is studying on a sunny day? Are you tempted to drift away towards serendipity?
Hi Caroline, and welcome!
Thanks for your positive comment. I love, love, love words. I just read your post about living as a type A personality. A good windy day by the ocean would be a good way to calm that I bet.
Wow , it’s nice and fun. I really love the simplicity in it.
Thanks for sharing the lovely thoughts .
“Did it make you dizzy? :-) Did you laugh till you fall down?”
It made me look up to see the thoughts encircling, and made my head swivel trying to watch all of those thoughts moving around! No dizziness, and no laughs but a big smile. I love your description – you could be describing my own wild thoughts!

Beautiful photo and evocative poetry! The beach is my favorite place to be. I hope you felt as good as the poem made your readers feel.

Davina, LOL, my poetry is nonexistent. My writing, however, does come in waves. …for now, anyway. ;) The thoughts, concepts, ideas, connections are there all the time, just waiting for me to find the words.
I love your poetry!

Davina,
I read this aloud as I like to do and it was so much fun to read! I love that you are sharing the poet in you.
I’m not sure why, but the line that jumped out at me was “Suspended instincts always land.” Thanks for sharing this with us:~)

Free-flowing thoughts teach human beings much about themselves. The worlds that flow out during a brainstorming session are also very helpful. Every person has automatic word associations. They offer clues to stages of awareness and what needs to be discarded to move on to new levels of consciousness. Thanks for leaving your footprint in the sand…

Hi Vikum.
Welcome. Thanks for your kind comment — I’m glad you enjoyed this. It was fun. It makes me want to go to the beach and run barefoot.
Hi Daphne.
Lol. You have wild thoughts? :-)
Hi Dot.
Thank you! That’s sweet of you to say. I hope you have lots of days at the beach planned for your summer.
Hi Julie.
Thank you, I liked playing with this one. Your writing is a lot like poetry actually. There is a rhythm there in a different form than typical poetry. Your words just flow naturally.
Hi Sara.
You’re welcome. Interesting that this line jumped out at you. What does “suspended instinct always land” mean to you?
Hi Patricia.
Sounds like you are tense about being tense! Ahhh, a massage… good idea. Good luck with your exam tomorrow.
Hi Liara.
Your comment is inspiring. I understand what you say about free-flowing thoughts. Going with the flow and not sensoring expands our reach — makes creativity almost luxurious.
“Lol. You have wild thoughts? :-)”
Wild as in uncontrolled, though probably not as wild as you’re wildly thinking now! :)

Thank you. I’ve been having fun with words and they with me. How light is your spirit today?
Hi Avatar.
Thank you. I look forward to seeing your poem! That photo is great isn’t it? The credit goes to Jurvetson’s photostream on Flickr.
Hi Lance.
Nice to see your lovely avatar face here again. Glad you’re back from your holiday, refreshed no doubt and probably right back at it by now. I’m glad you enjoyed the poem — it is pretty lively. Not planned at all. All I wanted was to make a comparison between screaming thoughts in the head and screaming seagulls.
Hi Jannie.
Thanks! That’s a great compliment coming from you… Miss songwriter :-)
Hi Davina – I love your poem and the photo. You certainly are a gifted writer, or should I say poet?
I love the beginning, and then when you say, “Dizzy, Is it me?”

A friend of mine has Sfumato walls in her living room. They start off one color at floor level and have blended into another by the time they reach the ceiling. I joke that she must have used an very expensive can of paint – but the truth is she’s an artist and knows how to do this kind of thing…
Many thanks for the comment you left on my final(?) post, Davina! I hope to drop by here from time to time.
Bye for now,

Hi Barbara.
Thank you. Those voices in our heads can sometimes make us dizzy can’t they? This made it fun.
Hi Simon.
I love the word sfumato — we studied it in art class in high school. You’re very welcome re that comment on your blog. I hope to see you around… and I’m still subscribed should you get inspired. :~) Cheers.
Wow Davina – your poetry has so many creative twists to it! It is so refreshing too in its liveliness!
I love especially how you make deeper messages in life come through in a modern format of words that are both meaningful and fun to read!
Very well done!
