Hi Jim.
It reminds me of watching my younger brother learn to walk. I remember thinking "that must hurt" when he fell right on his behind. The diaper did cushion his fall.

Hi Hilary.
Exactly... plop onto padded cheeks. They're funny too because when they land, for a split second you can't tell if they're going to laugh or cry. Too cute. I'm running out of steam... have one more poem and then... well, will have to see what the muse has in store.

Hi Barbara.
I think you're right :-) It wouldn't be easy. Don't know where that question came from but it popped into my head and I thought, "what the heck".

Hi Betsy.
I remember going ice skating. Was just thinking the other day that it's been ages since I've been. Tis the season isn't it?

Hi Jannie.
Thanks! :-) That's a great compliment coming from you.

Hi Vered.
This was the most fun to write and the quickest.

Hi Lori.
Not interested in the least eh? ;)

Hi Patricia.
I like to watch them... how excited they get when they take their first steps. And how surprised they look when they do. Seems like yesterday that my brother was learning to walk. I can just picture your little blond cutie pie visitor.

Hi Rose.
Thanks for the invite. I'll come by to check out your writing community.

Hi Cath.
Gee thanks. I'd say it's about 99% perspiration (though this was one of the easier poems to write). The poem "walked away from me" actually. I hadn't planned the ending until I was at that point and the rhyme just fell into place. This was from memory of having watched babies in the past. LOL... you're hilarious... I hope we never have to find that out, hah, hah, hah...

Hi Evita.
Thanks. Those little ones seem pretty proud of themselves when they're learning to walk. The facial expressions are priceless. Kids get pretty excited about Christmas... maybe that's where this took you.

Lol this was too cute!!!! I imagine a little one walking around. Sort of has a Christmas feeling to it. I don't know why, but that is the picture this poem drew in my mind. Fantastic Davina :)

Hi Davina - you are so talented. I totally suck at poetry - beyond the rhyming stuff you do in school.

How do you come up with an idea like this? Did the cushioned pants come first or last? And did you actually watch/observe a baby and take notes, or did it all come from memory?

I can't remember what it's like to walk with a full diaper. But I know Josh wasn't keen to give up his nappy's for the potty, so I'm guessing it can't be that bad. If we ever reach the point where we're old and incontinent, I guess we'll find out - if we can still walk by then.

Well another great poem and this one was just a delight....my neighbor a wee blond cutie pie just came over to "ring my bells" by the front door...her daily mission as she practices fresh air, walking, and now stairs...she was none too happy with it being so cold and having wet pants...it was ring the bells, smile and get me dry NOW....on Sunday.

This is really catching the spirit...impressive

What a great visualization -- just like every baby learning the basics.

As for the question, don't care to know!
