Hi Keith.
You're welcome. Toastmasters... not much else to tell unfortunately. After 3 speeches into the program I moved and stopped going. Did enjoy my time with them though. Met some neat people. I appreciated how supportive they were of members in the group. There was a healthy mix of seasoned speakers and newcomers.

Hi Siggy.
Welcome; thanks for your comment. I'm guessing there was meat in that spaghetti sauce? :-) Lucky pooch. Those unexpected moments are the best. No time to do anything but let them flow.

I liked your column. The best things are by serendipity. I placed my plate on the kitchen counter. It still had some spaghetti sauce on it. I was quickly going to boil some water to make some more pasta. I was still hungry. I heard a banging in the kitchen. I had to laugh. one of my dogs had found the dish and the banging was his tongue licking up the spatters of sauce on the plate he had reached stretching on his hind legs.

Another moment tonight was listening to the brief impromptu concert my wife gave on our organ. It just was another moment I did not expect or plan but enjoyed.

I liked a quote from a song by Joni Mitchell: 'people hurry by so quickly, don't they hear the melodies.'(Songs To Aging Children Come.)

Anyway, thanks for your column. Siggy

Hi Keith.
Was just over to your blog; I love the design. Much better looking even than this Thesis theme. Granted, I need a header design, but your website is fantastic looking. I like the centipede quotation you've shared here! It's SO perfect to illustrate your point.

Sorry Davina... meant to add:
Noticed that you are using the Thesis Theme.
A theme that I have always admired.
Makes me very jealous.

Hi Davina
Came over from John Hoff's site... interesting site you have here.
Liked your comment:
"It’s the experience of the listening and not trying to figure out"

Reminded me of learning to ski where the advice was to relax and listen to your body, let your body learn, don't interfere with what we do naturally.
The quotation that went along with that form of learning was:

"The centipede was happy quite, until a toad in fun said "Pray, which leg after which?" That worked her mind to such a pitch, she lay distracted in the ditch, considering how to run."

The other memorable phrase was "Some things can be learnt, but not taught."

It works for me!
